Why Bundling e-Learning Courses with
Instructor-Led Courses Makes Sense |
The Complementary Relationship between
these Two Types of Training
Do you offer instructor-led courses? Have you thought about the
benefits of providing e-Learning courses in addition to instructor-led
courses? Here are a few reasons to consider doing so.
Use e-Learning Courses as Pre-Tests
e-Learning courses can be used as pre-tests to instructor-led courses.
Using the Skill Assessment function in LSEL courses, you can determine
the current skill level of students. Based on their scores on the
pre-test, students can then be placed in the instructor-led class
of the appropriate level. This allows both students and instructors
to make the most of the instructor-led training session. All students
have the same base knowledge within the course and instructors can
focus on teaching the main concepts within a course and not spend
time on remedial elements.
Use e-Learning Courses as Prerequisites
to Gain Basic Level Skills
e-Learning courses may also be used as a prerequisite for an instructor-led
training course, allowing students to gain a minimum level of understanding
of a certain topic. Using the LSEL Skill Assessment feature, a student
can create a customized learning path based on his/her own scores.
The student may then take those sections of a course necessary to
bring him or her up to the level required for an instructor-led
course.
Use e-Learning as a Reference Tool for
Instructors
Using LSEL course simulations, exercises, and questions, instructors
may use e-Learning as a reference tool to brush up on specific items
they may wish to review. With courses updated on a quarterly basis,
an instructor will always access the most recent materials and can
easily prepare for instruction.
Use e-Learning to Demonstrate and Practice
Application of Material in Instructor-Led Course
Using LSEL course exercises and simulations, instructors can easily
demonstrate application of the material that they have been discussing.
In addition, instructors can easily allow students to gain hands-on
experience within an application, in a safe environment. Every student
within an instructor-led training course may access the various
interactive elements of LSEL courses and practice his or her skills
on the recently discussed materials.
Use e-Learning as Post-Tests
LSEL e-Learning courses and their Skill Assessment feature can
be used as a post-test taken at the end of an instructor-led course.
This feature can help the instructor to gauge the effectiveness
of the instructor-led course and assure the student has mastered
the material within a course. When a student passes a particular
mastery level within a LSEL course, he or she may print a course
completion certificate as tangible recognition of the achievement.
Use e-Learning to Reinforce Instructor-Led
Courses and Act as a Reference Tool
Students may also use e-Learning to reinforce topics covered in
instructor-led courses. The Master Topics feature within LSEL e-Learning
courses can be used to quickly review the topics contained within
all courses and instantly go to the subject a student wants. In
addition, the Search function within LSEL courses allows students
to search all the text in their courses, including coding examples,
to find a particular term quickly. Both these features allow students
to gain access to a particular topic quickly and easily, without
the hassle of searching through a hard copy manual or workbook.
e-Learning course materials, updated on a quarterly basis, can be
accessed for an entire year, while a manual can quickly go out of
date and is not easily updated.
Use e-Learning to Appeal to Other Learners
Combining the resources of instructor-led training and e-Learning
appeals to a wider range of students and learning abilities. Including
human interaction with the ability to try hands-on exercises and
simulations provides a learning environment best suited in meeting
the needs of all learners.
Use e-Learning to Gain a Competitive Advantage
Adding e-Learning to your list of services can provide you with
a powerful value-added service that acts as a competitive advantage
in your market space.
Why bundle LSEL e-Learning with instructor-led training? LSEL courses
provide accurate pre-and post-testing, serve as an effective prerequisite,
allow simple demonstration and practical application of material,
provide a powerful reinforcement tool, and appeal to a wider range
of learners than instructor-led training alone.
