FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q22: How do I take a course?
With Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher, go to http://www.ls-elearning.com.
Please bookmark this location in your browser by clicking on Favorites
- Add to favorites - Ok
Q23: What modem speed is recommended for
these courses?
The courses play well through 56kb modems with response time typically
under two seconds. Of course, play is faster as connection speeds
increase. LSEL/MindLeaders develops all courses in HTML format for
fast, easy Web delivery. Our courses are designed for highly efficient,
real-time presentation using native HTML with an average page size
under 20k. Our courses provide lots of interaction, and have many
simulations using Macromedia's Authorware Web Player and Flash plugins.
Q24: Can
I bookmark the last page accessed so I can return directly to it
the next time?
The courses automatically use a global bookmark to mark the last
page accessed. This happens automatically when you click the Exit
button in the toolbar. The next time you access that course you
will be taken to the bookmarked location. This global bookmarking
feature works from any computer.
Q25: Do your
courses offer any testing?
Yes. MindLeaders courses offer testing in two ways. A student will
encounter and answer questions as they take the courses. These questions
engage the student and facilitate subject mastery. All LSEL/MindLeaders
courses also have Skill Assessment modules. The Skill Assessment
modules can be used for pre- or post testing. And in our new series
of courses, the "Course in Review" lesson includes even
more comprehensive and unique questions.
Q26: What
exactly is a Skill Assessment module?
Each html course includes a 30 question Skill Assessment, which
evaluates your knowledge of the course material. The Skill Assessment,
accessed through the Tools button in the course, may be taken prior
to, during, or taking the actual course. Scores are tracked by unit
and include initial, current, and best scores. Scores are available
to the student immediately. Based on the scores received, students
can skip topics in which they demonstrate proficiency, thus reducing
training time.
Q27: How
do I see my scores?
Both Skill Assessment scores and Course scores are available through
in the Scores page accessed from the Tools button.
Q28: What
can I do to improve my scores?
Once you have completed a unit, go back and re-answer every question
in that unit. If you answer more questions correctly, an improved
score for that unit will be recorded.
Q29: What
do I need to do to get full course completion credit?
To get full credit for a course, you must answer every "Think
About It" question. You get credit for completing a unit when
you answer every question in that unit. The course is completed
when you have answered all questions in each unit.
Q30: What
happens if I forget my password?
From the course log in page, click on "Forget My Password"
to have it sent to you via email. If your email address is not found,
you will need to contact LSEL Technical Support at http://courses.mindleaders.com/assist/contact2.asp.
Q31: After
clicking the "Do It" button while taking a MindLeaders
course from the Internet, I am taken to a white page with an Authorware
Web Player link. Why?
Authorware Web Player is a plug-in that expands the functionality
of the browser. Some MindLeaders courses make limited use of Authorware
Web Player in order to more closely simulate the actual application.
These product simulations are optional, so you don't have to download
this plug-in. If you decide to run the simulations, download the
latest version of Authorware Web Player to view the course. After
clicking the Authorware Web Player link on the white page, follow
the instructions for downloading and installing the version of Authorware
Web Player appropriate for your version of Windows.
Q32:When
attempting to run a simulation, I get the following Authorware error
stating: "Function ReadExtFile on local files not allowed in
non-trusting mode." What should I do?
Go to http://www.mindleaders.com/dpec/shared/awsecure/awsecure.htm
and follow the steps for Setting Authorware Web Player Security.
Q33: The
orientation or lesson introductions aren't loading. Why?
The Macromedia Flash Player is used for course introductions and
activities, but is not required to run LSEL/MindLeaders courses.
It can be installed the first time you take a course by following
the instructions shown at login.
With the September 2003 release, all new course simulations will
run in Macromedia Flash 6.0 or higher. Most browsers already have
Flash installed. The current version of Flash is available for download
free of charge from the Macromedia site for those learners who don't
already have it. Go to http://www.macromedia.com/software/flashplayer/.
For learners without Macromedia Flash 6.0 or higher
" skill assessment module will not include simulations
" courses will include animated .gifs in place of Flash movies
" course pages will include static text in place of lesson
introductions
Q34: After
clicking the "Done" button to answer a question while
taking a LSEL course from a Web server or the Internet, I was taken
back to the "Course Login" page? Why?
At the beginning of each training session, you must start by going
to http://link.mindleaders.com/e-learn/quickLogin.asp?
associd=LSEL00001. The questions will not work if this "Course
Login" page is bypassed.
Q35: After
entering my User ID and Password at the "Course Login"
page, I click the "Sign On" button, but nothing happens.
What should I do?
This appears to be a browser configuration issue. It is necessary
for active scripting to be enabled in Internet Explorer. Also, ensure"
Run ActiveX Scripts" is enabled. After making the necessary
changes, reload the page or restart the browser to apply the changes.
Q36: I'm
trying to review the course, but part of the screen is missing or
I have to scroll on most pages. How can I prevent this?
Change your screen resolution in the control panel to 800 x 600,
if possible. You can also turn off the browser toolbars to provide
more viewing space. If you use a 640 x 480 screen resolution, you
will need to scroll on some pages.
Q37: I'd
like to report an error in one of the courses. Who should I contact?
Contact Technical Support at http://courses.mindleaders.com/assist/contact2.asp.
Q38: Can I get a
refund if I am not satisfied with your courses?
Effective immediately, LSEL/ MindLeaders have the following new
policy regarding consumer course subscription refunds:
Seven Day Money Back Policy
Refunds for course subscriptions will be given for seven days after
the subscription purchase, no questions asked. After seven days,
no refunds will be given.
To ensure subscribers have access to this information, a statement
of the policy has been added to credit card transaction confirmation
e-mails.
